If you want to get from A to B, ask Marcel to figure out a plan for you. He’s been doing this since he discovered he was a bad employee and should just own the business instead. Inefficiencies drive him crazy. Lack of focus makes him lose his mind. And freedom – both financial and creative – is his key drive. These characteristics come together and we see Marcel Newell as a multi-million dollar business owner, a strategic business mentor, a Top 40 Under 40 Entrepreneur Award winner and a guy who sees opportunity at every turn. His mobile electronics retail display company, AVIDWORX, has been a top resource for stores since 2002 and he calls upon his Electrical Engineering background to design intelligent switching at the heart of the company’s Store-in-a-Box product line-up. Because Marcel can’t stand to see something at less than its potential he has fine-tuned his ability to create a turbo-boosted plan to get any business up to speed – and his soft spot for Freedom means he sincerely wishes every business owner the same success. He’s a mostly practical guy and drives a 4x4 F-350 diesel truck with a multimedia head unit, 4 screens and 1000 watts of bass.
Bryan started in the car audio industry in 1990 at the Hi-Fi Shop located in Ogden, Utah.
By 1996 Bryan was recruited by Rockford Corporation to work for the industry’s most esteemed sales and fabrication training group, RTTI. (Rockford Technical Training Institute) While at RTTI, Bryan built many show vehicles that won multiple industry awards, including CES Best of Show in 2001 and 2002. He has designed and constructed Award Winning Audio Systems that have brought him worldwide recognition in the industry as one of the leaders in design and fabrication. Bryan also developed several exclusive product training techniques and seminars designed to enhance dealer performance, efficiency, and proficiency in the art of custom labour and fabrication.
In 2005 Bryan started his own business, called Mobile Solutions. This company has two divisions. The first division is an installation fabrication school that is recognized as the best in the 12 volt industry. The second division is called Mobile Solutions that sells unique installation and fabrication tools and supplies. Bryan has served as a professional technical speaker and trainer for both domestic and international markets. He has literally trained thousands of technicians around the world with these informative and innovative seminars.
Jody Culbertson is one of those unique individuals who has seen all sides of the mobile electronics industry over the course of 2 decades. Starting his career with Visions Electronic in 1994 as a installer, Jody steadily moved up the ladder of the Visions Electronics organization and by 2001, assumed the role of Car Audio Product Manager. From this position, Jody was able to mould Visions Electronics into one of Canada’s leading Mobile Audio retailers by successfully creating a big box feel with an independent store service, quality, and workmanship level provided for their customers. Jody’s experiences cover all aspects of the mobile electronics business from installing, management, marketing, sales, training, and strategic purchasing.
Now a sought after industry consultant who shares his expertise with independent retailers across North America, Jody’s presentations are based upon real life examples 12 volt independent dealers go through each day. The fairies of the Grammy Awards have had the good grace of smiling on his crib three times so far, once in 2004 with a win for the Toots and The Maytals 'Duets' album, and two nominations in 2011 for the Kirk Whalum 'Everything' album featuring Musiq Soulchild. He also has had the great pleasure to produce and mix the 4 times SAMA nominated 'Radio Africa' for Freshlyground and co produce the world wide hit Waka Waka for Shakira/Freshlyground.
Fab Dupont will discuss the importance and influence of speaker sound and design in the music recording process and how it impacts the listening experience for the rest of the world. He will show sessions for famous songs and explain how the pros shape the songs you hear on the radio.

Rob Banks - Co-Founder, Executive Officer at BuildDirect

Ken Sim - Co-Founder at Rosemary Rocksalt, Nurse Next Door

Ken Sim co-founded the Nurse Next Door Group of Companies in 2001 after his own bad experience with home health care (his wife’s new caretaker turned out to be a brand-new hire the home health care company hadn’t even met.) Ken has helped lead Nurse Next Door to its position as the dominant home health care company in Canada with more than 62 locations across North America. Nurse Next Door has been recognized as a leader in growth strategy, customer service, employee relations and continuous improvement.
Before launching Nurse Next Door, Ken spent time as both an investment banker and a merchant banker with CIBC World Markets in Toronto, London (UK) and Vancouver. Prior to CIBC World Markets, Ken was a financial analyst and auditor at KPMG in Vancouver.
Ken has been recognized with numerous business achievements including Ernst & Young’s 2006 Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award and a spot on Business in Vancouver’s 2005 Top 40 Under 40 list. Ken also completed the Entrepreneurs Organization’s Birthing of Giants program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Lean Certified Black Belt.
Ken is a board member of The Learning Partnership, The Sauder School of Business Executive MBA Program (Healthcare), and Start-up Canada. Ken also gives speeches across North America on management best practices, corporate culture and lean manufacturing in service-based industries.
In his spare time, Ken continues to pursue his entrepreneurial passion. Ken is currently launching a second national brand called Rosemary Rocksalt. Rosemary Rocksalt (an extension of Siegel’s Bagels in Vancouver) plans to open over 200 Montreal style bagel restaurants across North America over the next decade.
Todd Ramsey, founder of Ramsey Consulting Group, Inc., has over 27 years of technical training and content development experience in the automotive and consumer electronics industries. Serving national and independent retailers, distributors, trade and consumer publications, trade shows, as well as online discussion forums, Todd creates unique written and in-person content that inspires while it educates. As a former 12 volt retail owner/operator himself, Todd knows the importance of conveying concise and focused information about in-vehicle technology firsthand. Since 1993, he has educated industry professionals all over the world. Todd is actively involved with leading industry education objectives through trade associations such as SEMA and CEA. Ramsey Consulting Group also oversees credential administration and content development for CEA’s Mobile Electronic Certified Professionals (MECP) program, the industry’s only widely recognized installation technician certification. Many aftermarket 12 volt installers in today’s installation bays have learned from Todd’s OEM Audio Integration and Automotive Electrical training seminars. Todd holds an Honorary MECP Master Installation Technician Certification and an ASE A6 Electrical Certification.
